Breed Information

The Holland Lop  is a small, affectionate rabbit breed known for its floppy ears, compact size and friendly personality. Originally developed in the Netherlands by Adriann de Cock in the 1950s, this breed is now one of the most popular pet rabbits worldwide. 

Breed Characteristics

  • Size:    Small (2-4 lbs when fully grown)
  • Body Type:   Compact, muscular and well-rounded
  • Coat:   Soft, dense and medium-length
  • Ears:   Distinctive lop ears that hang down on both sides of the face
  • Colors:   Wide variety, including solid, broken and shaded patterns

Temperament

  • Friendly and affectionate, often enjoying human interactions
  • Playful and curious, making them great indoor pets
  • Can be stubborn, so patience is needed for training

Lifespan

With proper care, Holland  Lops can live between 7-10 years, making them a long-term, loving companion

Health

Holland Lops are generally healthy rabbits, but their small size and lop ears make them prone to to certain health issues. Regular care and monitoring help ensure a long, healthy life. 

Care and Diet

A balanced diet, clean living environment, regulated temperature and regular health checks are key to keeping them happy and healthy. Rabbit's diet should consist mainly of high-quality hay, supplemented with pellets, fresh greens and clean water.
